What is the cheapest way to book driving lessons?

Most professional driving schools offer a discount for block bookings meaning the more hours you book and pay for in advance, the cheaper it is.

Many UK driving schools will also offer a discount for students on production of a NUS card.

How many driving lessons will I need to take before I'm ready for my test?

Everyone is different but the DSA advises that, on average, a complete novice will require 48 hours of lessons from a UK professional driving school.

Are the intensive courses offered by professional driving schools effective?

Yes, but they are not for everyone and you should choose the method of learning to drive best suited to you.

How long does the UK driving test take?

Can I use an automatic car for the driving test?

If you pass the UK driving test in an automatic car, then you are restricted to driving vehicles with automatic transmission, although a full automatic licence acts as a provisional manual licence.

Anyone who holds a full UK driving licence can sit Pass Plus. Most professional driving schools operate this scheme.
